Dr. Nader Rifai

Nader Rifai is a Professor of Pathology at Harvard Medical School, The Orah S. Platt Chair in Laboratory Medicine, and the Director of Clinical Chemistry at Boston Children’s Hospital in the US, as well as an Adjunct Professor of Medicine at University of Porto in Portugal. His career spans close to 40 years in academic laboratory medicine.

Dr. Rifai’s research focused on biomarkers of cardiovascular disease and according to Web of Science, his work accumulated >90,000 citations with an h-index of 131; 20 of his papers were cited >1000 times. He served as the Editor-in-Chief of Clinical Chemistry for 15 y and Founded the Clinical Chemistry Trainee Council. He is the Senior Editor of Tietz Textbook of Laboratory Medicine, the main textbook in the field, and the Co-Editor-in-Chief of the Learning Lab for Laboratory Medicine.  He is currently the President-Elect of the International Federation of Clinical Chemistry and Laboratory Medicine (IFCC), which consists of over 130 member national societies in laboratory medicine from >100 countries and over 60 in vitro diagnostics corporate members.
